Quick Fire Game
Quick Fire is the timed, longer version of Music Trivia — a rapid session of up to ten questions with a nine-second clock on each one and a combo multiplier that climbs while you keep answering correctly. It also asks a class of question Trivia doesn’t: questions about your listening habits, drawn from your play history.
Opening the Game
Tap the Games button in the Library screen header, then choose Quick Fire.

Games is a Pro feature. Without Pro the Games button is dimmed and tapping it opens the Pro upsell — see Music Trivia and Pro Features.
Quick Fire needs enough music to build a session. If it can’t assemble any questions at all you’ll see “Not enough music in your library for a session. Add more tracks first.” — import more music and try again (Importing Music).
Countdown
Once the session is built, a 3 · 2 · 1 countdown fills the screen with the line “Get ready. Things are about to move fast.”

The first question and its timer start the moment the countdown hits zero.
How a Round Works
A session is up to 10 questions. It can be shorter if your library and history can’t support ten distinct questions — the game builds every question type it can and takes as many as it gets. (The Games sheet describes it as “8–12 rapid rounds”; ten is the actual ceiling.)
[SCREENSHOT: Quick Fire question — timer bar under the header, score and combo chips, prompt, option pills]
Each question gives you nine seconds. A thin bar under the header drains left to right and changes colour as it goes: blue at the start, amber below a quarter remaining, red at the end.
- Answer in time — the correct pill turns green, your wrong pick (if any) turns red, and the game advances after a short beat
- Run out of time — the question is scored as wrong and the game advances almost immediately, without highlighting the answer on screen. You’ll see what it was in the breakdown at the end.
There are no lives. Wrong answers and timeouts don’t end the session; you always play the full set.
Score and the Combo Multiplier
Two chips sit in the header while you play:
| Chip | Meaning |
|---|---|
N/10 | Correct answers so far, out of the session length |
×1.1 – ×2.0 | Your current combo multiplier |
The combo starts at ×1.0 and adds 0.1 for every consecutive correct answer, capped at ×2.0 — so ten straight correct answers walks it up to the ceiling. It appears (and pulses) once it rises above ×1.0, and a wrong answer or timeout drops it straight back to ×1.0.
The multiplier is a momentum display, not a scoring change. Your recorded score is the raw count of correct answers — the combo doesn’t inflate it. Treat it as a live read on your streak.
Host commentary reacts to the same streak, escalating from “There it is.” through “Hat trick. Impressive.” to “Are you even trying?”.
Question Types
Quick Fire draws on everything Trivia uses, plus five types that read your listening history and your library’s shape.
Library questions (same as Trivia):
| Type | Question |
|---|---|
| Name the Artist | ”Who recorded this track?” |
| Name the Track | ”Which track is by artist?” |
| Odd One Out | ”Three of these are by artist. Which is the intruder?” |
| Name the Album | ”Which album contains this track?” |
| Album Companion | ”Which track shares an album with track?” |
Quick Fire only — habits and library shape:
| Type | Question | Where the answer comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Same Artist? | ”Same artist or different?” for two track titles | Your tracks — a coin flip decides whether the pair actually matches |
| A or B? | ”Who has more tracks in your library?” | Your two artists’ play counts over the last 90 days — the on-screen wording says “tracks”, but the comparison is plays |
| First or Last? | ”Which album was released first?” | Release years stored on your albums |
| Most Played | ”Which artist track have you played the most?” | Your play counts over the last 90 days |
| Know Yourself | ”When do you listen most?” — morning / afternoon / evening / late night | Your peak listening hour |
| Skip Savant | ”Which artist do you skip least?” | Per-artist skip rates, artists with 5+ plays only |
Artist metadata questions (album chronology, origin, forming decade, genre, band member, still-together) also appear once artists in your library have fetched metadata — the same verified data behind Library AI.
The habit questions are the ones that make Quick Fire different from a quiz app. “Which artist do you skip least?” is answered from your actual skip log, and it will tell you afterwards — “You skip artist only 8% of the time.” Several of these questions carry a reveal fact like that, shown on the result screen whether you got it right or not.
If your listening history is thin, the habit questions quietly drop out: Most Played needs at least four ranked tracks, Skip Savant needs at least four artists with five or more plays, and Know Yourself needs a peak hour to exist. Play history comes from the same event log described in Analytics Settings & Privacy.
The Result Screen
[SCREENSHOT: Quick Fire result screen — stars, AI verdict, breakdown with reveal facts]
The same result screen as Trivia: trophy and star rating (3 stars for a clean sweep, scaling down from there), your score, an on-device AI verdict, a row of album artwork from the artists that appeared, and a full Breakdown of every question with ✓ / ✗, the correct answer where you missed, and any reveal fact.
If Apple Intelligence isn’t available, the verdict falls back to fixed titles — “Certified Expert”, “Sharp Ears”, “Keep Listening” — chosen by score.
Tap Done to close.
What Gets Recorded
Finishing a Quick Fire session writes two things locally:
- A Quick Fire sessions played counter, which unlocks the Quick Fire Hero achievement
- The same trivia counters Music Trivia uses — games played, total correct, total questions, best score, last played
Because both games share those counters, a Quick Fire session also raises your trivia games-played total and can set a new best score. That best score is what the Perfect Score achievement checks, so a strong Quick Fire run can unlock it too. See Achievements.
Session results appear in the Music Trivia card of the Listening Analytics Dashboard. Nothing leaves your device.
