Collaborative Sessions
A collaborative session links two or more devices on the same Wi-Fi network so a whole room can play together: one device hosts the song, and everyone else joins as a member — locked to the host’s transport and tempo, hearing the session, playing live, and even recording takes that land on the host’s timeline automatically.
Open ⋯ menu → Settings → Session on every device.
Hosting and joining
The Session tab shows two cards when you’re not in a session:

To host: tap Host This Room. Your device becomes discoverable and members appear in your dashboard as they join, each with a sync-status chip (IN SYNC / SYNCING… / RECONNECTING).
To join: tap Join a Session, then tap the host’s name in the list. If the host set a join code, ask them for the 6-digit code on their screen and type it in first.
Join code (host option): recommended in shared spaces so a stranger’s device can’t pair with your session by accident.
Playback is briefly gated after someone joins while the devices sync clocks — the status chip clears within a moment.
Sharing a project
By default everyone keeps their own project — the session syncs transport, tempo, loop region, and live audio only.
When the host enables Share my project, each member gets a one-time prompt: “[Host] is sharing a project — use it for this session?”
- Use Host Project — the member’s open project is saved first, then the host’s project takes over their session view. Tracks, clips, MIDI, and plugin setups all sync both ways from then on: edits on any device flow to everyone.
- Stay Independent — nothing changes; the member can still opt in later from the Session tab.
What syncs with a shared project:
- Tracks (including added tracks), clips, and MIDI
- Audio files — missing takes transfer between devices automatically, with a progress banner
- Plugin setups including their settings — a synth patch, amp rig, or drum kit arrives sounding like the host’s
- Custom amp profiles, IRs, and drum samples the plugins reference — pulled from whichever device has them, once. Files you already have are never re-transferred.
What stays per-device:
- The mixer. Volume, pan, and mute are your own monitor mix — mute the whole band and listen to just yourself through your own interface, and the host’s mix never moves. The host’s mix is the one that counts for export.
- Arming, input selection, and monitoring.
- The project each device saves keeps that device’s own mix.
Live audio between devices
Any device can stream its sound to the others — the section is called Send Audio to Members on the host and My Live Sound on members (send your amp or instrument into the host’s monitors).

If a Mac is in the session, use it as the broadcaster — its send path is far lower-latency than an iPhone’s.
Transport-only sessions
You don’t have to stream audio at all. Leave Share my project off and the audio broadcast switches off, and the session syncs only the timeline — transport, tempo, and loop region. Everyone keeps their own project and monitors their own instrument locally, perfectly in time, with nothing added to their monitors and no streaming bandwidth used. It’s the lowest-latency way to play together when each musician has their own gear and only needs to stay locked to the same song position.
Latency to expect: monitor your own instrument locally (near-zero) and expect to hear others with a little delay. A Mac broadcasting to iPhones is ~10–15 ms (comfortably playable); an iPhone broadcasting its full mix is higher (~100 ms) due to an iOS capture floor — which is why the app steers you toward a Mac broadcaster and Live-Input mode. All of it is in the range of normal wireless in-ear monitoring.
Recording takes as a member
Two ways for members to capture:
Record with host (Session tab, member dashboard): arm a track, flip the toggle, and your record button shows a waiting state. The moment the host starts playback, your device records — clock-aligned to the host’s timeline — and when the host stops, the take finalizes at the right position and syncs to the host automatically. Press your record button mid-take to stop just your own capture; the session keeps playing.
Independent capture: turn off Follow leader transport (under Advanced) and record on your own transport as usual. With a shared project, finished takes still sync to the host.
Leaving, handing off, and dropouts
- Request lead asks the host to hand the session over to you.
- Leave Session / End Session disconnects. A shared project stays on the member’s device as a normal project.
- Brief Wi-Fi dropouts reconnect automatically within ~20 seconds; if the host disappears for good, members are offered the chance to take over.
Troubleshooting
- Can’t see the host? Same Wi-Fi network, and the host must be on the Hosting screen.
- “Check the join code” — the code regenerates each time hosting starts; read it off the host’s screen again.
- Member sounds out of tune with the mix — that member’s local mixer is independent; check their faders, not yours.
- A shared plugin arrived silent — its amp profile or samples may still be transferring; watch the progress banner, or tap Resync in the Session tab.
